First Phone call
Last week my six-year-old daughter received her first phone call from a boy in her kindergarten class! It was a surprise, but no big deal, right? I over heard Kaitlyn telling him, "you can't have a boyfriend or girlfriend until after high school." Yea! Way to tell him, girl. You listened to your parents! :) During this first phone call, I also talked briefly with his mother. She said Kaitlyn gave her # to him and hoped it was okay for him to talk to her. Since this phone call, he has called nearly every day. When Kaitlyn was outside playing he wanted her to call him back. When we weren't answering the phone, he left a message. When Kaitlyn didn't call him back, he called again. We let Kaitlyn talk to him for a few minutes. It seems harmless, but is it? What should I do? Any good advice?

LOL... Wow, with the way things went with me and how boy crazy I was at such an early age - I think I will keep our home number a secret from my kids till after high school! lol
GOOD LUCK!!!
Wow, she's already attracting the boys. Maybe limit it to one phone call and/or message a day (or week?). I don't know though. Let us know how it ends up :)
Tonight while Matt was helping the kids brush teeth and get ready for bed, the phone rang. Since I was resting, I let the machine get it. Guess who? It was the boy! He said he just wanted to know how she was and he said "I love you."! Then he called right back and left a second message saying that he wanted to know if she was awake.
Usually at this age these fade soon enough. This kid's a little more persistent than most, it seems...truly smitten. Can't blame his good taste, though. Keep your comments friendly to them both, not "girl/boy-friendish," so they get the idea that this is friendship, like so many other friends they both have.
I like Mom's advice- don't quash it, but don't make into a big deal. It's really cute though (though somewhat neurotic on the boys part).
Wow, her first stalker. Cute! I agree--don't make a huge deal (she seems to have the idea she can't date yet--good for her and for her parents), and hopefully this kid will stop calling. Cute he adores her though. I do too.
