Sierra Jean Ripplinger has arrived

Proud family!

At 10 pounds 3 oz and 22.5 inches, baby S weighs in as our most robust yet. She is, of course, beautiful. Everything went well with delivery, with Mom and Dad Mac helping out with the other kids at home.
Mags and I have narrowed down names to either Sierra or Samantha (so it’s an “S”). Yeah yeah, I hear those of you out there who are worried for her self-esteem and future sense of identity being threatened by her parents’ slow decision-making. But remember Heinz ketchup. (See the end of this post if you don’t get it.)
LATE-BREAKING NEWS: Her name is Sierra Jean Ripplinger. Enjoy.

After Mags and I slept in till 1PM, I brought the kids to meet their new sister in the hospital. Have you ever heard Elton John’s “Greatest Discovery”? I felt a bit of the sacred in today’s introductions, and that song captures some of that feeling.

Adam and Kaitlyn both did a great job of holding baby S carefully, and all three of S’s siblings were very gentle. Very sweet. Whenever we ask how they feel to have a new sister, they smile and talk excitedly.

(Heinz: “The best things come to those who wait.”)

Congratulations on your new addition.

Congratulations! How fun to see our little ones share the same birthday! Hope you are doing well. Aside from fatigue and exhaustion, I am doing great and loving the new experience.

Hey Mags! Great job on growing that little girl! She is beautiful and I'm so happy for you. I like Sierra a lot, and don't worry I've of heard much longer wait times when it comes to naming babies. When your baby gets to a month old and still doesn't have a name, then you can start to feel bad!

Oooh, I love the name. Very pretty. You guys do a good job. Hopefully she doesn't have a problem saying her Rs, although hearing her say "Siewa Wipplinger" would be adorable.

Thanks for posting such great pics! I love the one with Raquel and Matt looking down at Sierra. Raquel's expression is so priceless! A new baby is a very sacred time, one of the few moments that bridge time and eternity. You can almost feel the breath of heaven gently touching your heart when you hold that precious life; so dear to our Father, so dear to us. I'm grateful you have this blessing in your lives, and hence all our lives. We love you!
